"Palette to palette"
(mixed media)
by Melanie Swan
We are a community group of artists and craftspeople who all live with autism in our families. We know the struggles and difficulties families like ours face and how lives like ours can be misunderstood. Our aim is to share our creative lives and experiences and to provide cultural opportunities to families living with autism.
We were inspired by learning about the launch of the Cultural Olympiad in 2008 and have been funded by Awards for All to deliver a one year Pilot Project. This is based on the Isle of Wight and will provide workshop and exhibition opportunities, working in collaboration with other community groups. We're aiming to build on this over the next few years to roll the Project across the South East of England, welcoming new friends and collaboration from across the world! The Project is launching in May 2009 and you can see our plans on the News page. The No Man is an Island Project has been recognised as part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad through the Inspire programme; check out our Projects and About Us to find out more and to see how the story unfolds!
